Families and Kids Honored at Winter Celebration

On December 4th over 100 Boston fifth graders and their parents, grandparents, teachers and principals gathered at the Yawkey Club of Roxbury for Urban Improv's Winter Family Celebration.  The Family Celebrations, started in 2008, bring together youth participating in the nine-week workshop program and their families and teachers to celebrate the achievements made during the workshops.

Fifth graders from 10 Boston schools introduced their families to the Urban Improv actors as everyone shared a pizza supper.  Parents and educators watched students in action as they participating in Urban Improv scenes and sang Urban Improv songs.

Special guest First Lady of Massachusetts Diane Patrick spoke to the crowd about the importance of participating in programs like Urban Improv telling the students, "I am so proud of you.  You will be the next leaders.  You are going to carry on the Urban Improv work and teach others."
